Because the Security of Vehicles has increased in recent years, Criminals have been targeting Homes to Burgle so they can steal the Keys and the Vehicles.
Using a Particular Technique they look for types of Handles or Cylinders that makes it easier for them.
We fit Snap-Safe Cylinders as Standard.
Have you Broken your Key?
We are experienced in Removing Broken Keys from Locks. once we have the Key removed we can determine what the next course of action should be. it could be a new Key or a new Lock.
Your Key may be Worn Out or damaged, when this happens hard to see minute Stress marks appear in the Key usually at the Deepest Cut, it's just a matter of time before it Breaks.
Vehicle Locks are Lubricated differently than Household Locks. A Vehicle Lock usually has a Special Grease applied during Manufacture that will last many years, If you don't use the Locks because you use the Remote Fob, then Grease can become solid because it has not been exercised. When you need to use the Key it may not work.
If the Remote Key Stops working it is common for the Driver to Force to Key into the Lock and perhaps Break it. Use the Key in all the Locks at least once a month to exercise the Locks.
Household Cylinder Locks (Yale Type) just need a Light Lubricant Sprayed onto the Key, then insert the Key into the Lock, Perhaps twice a year. WD 40 is acceptable but Locksmiths will use a special Lubricant that leaves no residue inside the Lock.
Padlocks with Broken Keys
Padlocks frequently have Broken Keys because they are exposed to the Elements, External Padlocks need to be maintained twice per year in Autumn and Spring, many people that are using Cheap Padlocks will just Buy a new Padlock when they get difficult to use. If you have an expensive Padlock, take it into a Locksmith Shop for Maintenance, they will wash out all Working Parts and the Cylinder, they will use special Grease on the working parts of the Padlock, if it has a Cylinder then it will be lubricated differently. Padlocks that use a Lever Key instead of a Cylinder Key have a Special Grease applied to certain of the internal parts.
Prepare well for Winter if you have Gate Padlocks, Ice is responsible for many Broken Keys, Padlocks with Lever Keys fare better in Ice than Cylinder Keys in Icy Weather.
Padlocks that are described as Weatherproof need closer examination, there are very few Makes of genuine Weatherproof Padlocks and they would be extremely expensive.
Utility & Railway Maintenance companies will use them at locations that are only used infrequently.
Yale makes a Padlock that every component is made from Bronze or Brass that is Considered Weatherproof, all others need maintenance.
Auto Locks and Keys
Every Key has to be Programmed into the Vehicles ECU
Think as the ECU is an onboard Computer that Stores Information from the Manufacturer to ensure that the Vehicle Performs Exactly the way the Manufacturer Intended.
Even if you have a Key Cut it has to be Programmed into the Vehicles ECU, sometimes it can be done in the Key Cutting Shop but it's more likely that it has to be Programmed at the Vehicle by the MAIN DEALER or an AUTO LOCKSMITH.
If you get Quotations from both you will find that Auto Locksmiths are considerably Less Expensive and are flexible enough to do the Job at your Home or Work.
It is worth your while to have 2-Keys especially if you're considering selling your Vehicle because most Buyers are wary about buying a Vehicle with only one 1-Key.
You have no keys for the vehicle
This Job can be done at the Main Dealer Garage or Auto Locksmith
NOTE It is Standard Practice for Main Dealers or Garages to charge for New Replacement Parts rather than Re-Format or Repair, an Auto Locksmith will usually give Options for both.
The Auto Locksmith will Pick & De-Code the Locks and Make New Keys, then Program the New Keys into the ECU. the old Keys can be Deleted from the ECU Programme.
Trouble Prevention
If your vehicle is being started with the aid of Jump-Leads attached to a Donor-Vehicle there is a possibility that this operation could cause Spikes or Electrical Interference in your Vehicle's Electrical System because your Battery is Flat.
Switching your Sidelights ON can help stop this, the Bulbs intensity can fluctuate and absorb electrical Interference. The ECU is susceptible to this type of interference because although it isn't a Computer it can easily be damaged by electrical Spikes.
Theft Prevention
Always Deadlock your Vehicle, usually, that means pressing the Lock button on your Fob Twice, if Locking with a Key, turn the Key to Lock Twice.
Wireless Card Devices, never leave the Vehicle to Lock itself always press the Deadlock Button on the Card.
At Night use a Faraday Wallet to stop your Card from communicating with your Vehicle or Thieves trying to steal a signal from your phone to unlock it.
